fac me tuis semper inhærere mandatis et a te numquam separari permittas. Amen.

Of your Charity . . .

please pray for the repose of the soul of F. Michael Napier Cong.Orat., of the London Oratory who died fourteen years ago today - the Feast of the Coronation of Our Lady, Queen of Heaven - during the celebration of his Mass.

  1. I think Fr. Michael was someone who it was very easy to misunderstand - I know that from personal experience - and certainly at face value he could be rather formidable.

After his death another side to him became apparent: e.g. for years he had gone every week to cook a meal for a lonely lady, and not a rich or titled one either. He also supported Fr. David's ordination when the latter was HIV+ and very ill. Lesser men than Fr. Michael would probably have worried about opinion and scandal.

Fr. Michael was clearly a man of some stature, in many senses of the word. May he rest in peace.
