LIBERAME, Domine, Iesu Christe, ab omnibus iniquitatis meis et universis malis, fac me tuis semper inhærere mandatis et a te numquam separari permittas. Amen.
Oremus
Excita, quaesumus, Domine, potentiam Tuam, et veni : ut ab imminentibus peccatorum nostrorum periculis, Te mereamur Protegente eripi, Te liberante salvari.

please pray for the repose of the soul of F. Michael Napier Cong.Orat., of the London Oratory who died fourteen years ago today - the Feast of the Coronation of Our Lady, Queen of Heaven - during the celebration of his Mass.
I think Fr. Michael was someone who it was very easy to misunderstand - I know that from personal experience - and certainly at face value he could be rather formidable.
After his death another side to him became apparent: e.g. for years he had gone every week to cook a meal for a lonely lady, and not a rich or titled one either. He also supported Fr. David's ordination when the latter was HIV+ and very ill. Lesser men than Fr. Michael would probably have worried about opinion and scandal.
Fr. Michael was clearly a man of some stature, in many senses of the word. May he rest in peace.
